Liberals on this continent and in Europe smugly portray themselves as “enlightened” and snobbishly look down their collective nose at “red staters” as neanderthal thugs. One of the causes championed by this lot is “Womens’ Rights”, which is inarguably a noble endeavor, I think everyone would agree. It was a movement at first resisted by males as a harbinger of the decline of male-rule, to be certain, but I would find an argument against the overall benefit difficult to be found in today’s modern era.
What is puzzling is the attitude of liberals regarding the treatment of women by those they view as friends or allies. Bill Clinton’s treatment of women should have sparked a frenzy of outrage by any self-respecting liberal, but did it? The correct answer would be a resounding, “NO!”.
But the really puzzling behavior comes from the libs’ view of islam. They seem to defend islam as simply “a different view from our own”, and “one we should understand and respect”. And yet, there is virtually no outcry from the left when something like this not only happens, but is then defended by the perpetrators as “normal and expected”.
If attacks such as those perpetrated on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon are not enough to raise and maintain the ire of Mr. & Mrs. America, the prospect of living like this should be. But thus far, I have seen no evidence of alarm on the part of the elitists in this country.
I find it not only puzzling, but troublesome.
Liberals are the first to cry foul when a male supervisor or even a co-worker passes a compliment to a female employee yet these are the same people who look the other way as muslim women are forced to live in virtual slavery, subject to a myriad of abuses by men. Subject to even death on a mere whim, there is no protest from liberals and feminists, who defend this as “a way of life, a belief system”. And what’s worse they advocate that the practice be permitted by American muslims as freedom.
Strange mentality indeed.
